About Alterform

What programs/equipment do you use?

On the software end, I use Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D Studio Max, Dreamweaver, and Flash.
As far as my equipment goes, I have a Sony DSC -F717, my desktop is an AMD Athlon
XP 1900 with 1.5 GBs of DDR2700, 1 200 GB hard drive, 2 120 GB hard drives, 1 40GB hard drive, 1 25
GB hard drive, a Sony 40x CDRW, 16x DVD, and a 19" Dell LCD,
networked to my laptop, which is a Dell Inspiron with P4 1.6 GHz, a CDRW/DVD combo
drive, 384 megs of RAM, and a 15" monitor.

Contrary to what most Mac fiends would have you believe, great artwork can be
created on a PC.
Oh yeah, for development, I work in PHP/MySQL. Eff you .NET!

Will you host me?

I have gobs of free server space (a lot of it not necessarily the best, but its up most
of the time...). However, I dont just host anyone who comes along. If I like your
art, if I like you as a person, or I think youre going to do good things with
my server space, then I'll most likely host you. Like above though, manners, and
the approach make a big difference.

Show me how to do this technique!

I dont know why some people are so pushy when asking favors. Perhaps its a cultural thing. Either way, I like to help out where I can, and have no problem sharing PSD files, stock photos, experience, etc. However, like Heinlen once said, manners are the lubrication in a machine that doesnt work all that well to begin with. Be polite about it,
and youre a lot closer to getting what you want.

May I use one of your existing graphics for a project of mine?

If you want to pay me for it, sure. Again, like above though, I cant do anymore free work. I have bills to pay just like everyone else.

Will you do a site layout/graphics/logo for me?

If youre a paying customer, yes I will. However, if you just want something done for free, I cant help you
out. If you have a good cause, Ill do what I can, but thats the extent of my free
work.

Have you done any professional work?

Yes. For professional inquiries,
please go to my business portfolio: www.shift22.com

What happened to the resource sections?

Well, no one asked for it, but on the web, content is king, as such, Ive brought it back, giving some of you freaks some learnin' material.

What exactly IS this place?

A digital playground. A place where I can turn the spotlight on me, and just
be who I am, away from the professional side of things. This is just somewhere
for me to hang my hat, and show off a bit.

I heard you had 9 toes. Is this true?

Why my feet were the topic of anyones conversation, I'll never know, but yes,
I do have 9 toes. I got into a dirtbike accident a few years ago, and had to have
my big toe amputated. Some people are bothered by it, some not. Its a toe. I mean,
heck, I have 9 more, so its not like Im running out of them. I was more upset
that I had ruined new shoes than I was losing the toe. The toe I had for 20 years.
The shoes I only had for 2 weeks.

I heard you did this/that/the other. Are you a hypocrite?

No, Im not a hypocrite. I dont profess things I do not believe. However, just
because I believe something is right does not mean that I always follow that standard.
Unfortunately, I cant make up right and wrong, like the subjectivists pretend
they can. I have a moral standard that I follow that is greater than me, and I
must struggle to meet those standards, and in fact, can never attain those standards.
Thats where grace comes in. My failings do not mean I dont believe them. They
mean I chose to ignore them for some other percieved gain. Thats called a sin.
And buddy, I have no shortage of those...

What is the meaning of life?

The answer to this is actually very simple to know, really easy to screw up,
and very hard to actually do. Ill even rip off St. Augustine for the answer: Love
God with all your heart, and do whatever you want.

I've heard this/that/the other about you from him/her/them. Is this true?

I dont really know. It could be true, it could be a gross exaggeration, or
a complete lie. But if you really wonder about something you've heard about me,
just ask. I have a policy of complete honesty, and have no problem answering any
question. But if you really wish to believe it a priori, be my guest. Its not
like Im going to sit here and bemoan my existence that bad things are being said
about me somewhere.

Why are you so morbid?

Im really not as morbid as my artwork indicates. I do like dark, gritty, slightly
disturbing themes, but I do have a fondness for all art in general. Most of my
friends would probably tell you Im quite the chipper individual, though I am a
recovering pessimist. I always see the glass not has half full or half empty,
but as broken, empty, and discarded. Well, I guess thats a bit misleading. I CAN
be like that, however, I can also be very positive as well. Its usually as regards
certain things in life that Im a pessimist. When it comes to school, work, pretty
much almost anything, Im a positive guy who looks for the best part of a situation.
When it comes to one particular area, however, Im a Gloomy Gus, a Moody Mark,
a Nihilistic Nate, and a slew of other cheesy alliterative emotion/name combinations.
Just how Im wired, I guess.
